“Plane” Simple

April 4, 2016

It’s plain simple. Or maybe I should say, plane simple. Most young boys with flights of fancy take their first stab at aeronautical engineering with construction of a paper airplane. I know I did. A fold here, another one there and I had designed a sleek, super duper, state-of-the-art, paper glider. If I got lucky, it would remain airborne for about five seconds before nose diving into the ground. Hard to believe my somewhat graceful flyer had its roots in Ancient China and would be used by the Wright Brothers as a prototype for the first, powered flight in 1903.

As you stroll down the hallways of today’s American offices, there’s little need to duck out of the way of erratically, low-flying missiles. That’s because many of these businesses are making the transition from a paper-based to a “paper light” (if not an entirely “paperless”) workplace environment. Traditional workflow processes, such as human resources, accounts payable and contract administration, are becoming far more digital. Progressive companies consult with information management services companies to engage the most suitable scanning, hosting and electronic workflow solutions. However, for those companies loathe to folding up their paper tent, they can count on those same information management services companies to provide cost-efficient, physical records storage and secure, certified shredding services.

Don’t get me wrong. I love progress. I embrace and support it. But sometimes progress can stymie the simple joys of yesteryear. If you don’t believe me, just try folding and flying an external hard drive. See?
